Phil Parkinson used this afternoon's first pre-season fixture to give all of his squad 45 minutes football against a Nantwich Town side that  was playing its final friendly before the start of their Northern Premier League campaign next Saturday, when they travel to FC United of Manchester.

The game was decided by a comical own goal after 32 minutes, when Greg Hall, the Dabbers'former 1874 Northwich & Witton Albion keeper lost concentation to allow Josh Langley's routine backpass to roll under his right foot & a desperate attempt to retrieve the ball failed as it rolled over the line & into the back of the net, with the Dabbers keeper in hot but unsuccessful pursuit.

Matt Gould made an eye-catching debut with 2 superb saves in the second half to deny Sean Cooke & Joe Malkin.

The game ended on a worrying note for the Robins with Dan Mooney being stretchered off with what looked like a potentially; serious ankle injury.
