ALTRINCHAM host Southport at The J.Davidson Stadium on Saturday afternoon as they look to bounce back from last weekend's defeat against Chorley.
The Robins were hit by four second half goals as the league leaders came away with a 4-1 win following Max Harrop's opener, and boss Phil Parkinson will be hoping for a response to that in front of the home faithful this time out.
Southport are currently four points away from the Robins in 11th and are more than capable of getting themselves in and around the play-offs if they continue their run of good results, so it will prove to be a difficult test against Liam Watson's side.
Manager Watson is currently in his third spell in charge with the club, having first become manager back in 2003, and the Sandgrounders have achieved three promotions from the National League North under his stewardship, so is no stranger to success at this level.
The Sandgrounders have been on fire on in the league and are unbeaten in their last 12 matches, with their last outing being a 5-1 victory over Leamington thanks to second half goals from Bradley Bauress (2), David Morgan and Dion Charles (2), so they will hope to extend that run at the weekend.
With both teams being in contrasting form as of late and with so many teams still more than capable of reaching the play-offs, it is important that the Robins keep winning games in the second half of the season, so for boss Phil Parkinson, there will be better time to start doing that than Saturday afternoon.
Last time out:
The two sides last met back in August, with the Robins coming away from Haig Avenue with a 3-1 victory on that day. After a goalless opening half, Liam Goulding opened the scoring that day early in the second half before an equaliser from Jordan Richards pegged Alty back. However, further goals from John Johnston and Jordan Hulme were enough to send all three points the way of Phil Parkinson's men.
Ahead of the crunch match with Southport on Saturday, the club are running an early bird dining deal in the Community Sports Hall. Supporters can grab themselves a pie, chips and gravy, or a Burger/hot dog with chips and gravy for just £4.50 and also receive a voucher for £1 off their first pint. This deal is available from 1.30pm to 2.15pm only, so get in early and enjoy a bite to eat before the game!
