The Robins go into this game with the same squad that was involved in Tuesday night's 2-1 defeat to Stockport County, with a couple of exceptions.

Phil Parkinson is not continuing his interest in former Liverpool, Curzon Ashton, FC Halifax Town & Sligo Rovers striker, Adam Morgan, whilst Lewis Walters returns to face his former employers, following his trial at Brentford,

Saturday is AFC Fylde's second visit to the J.Davidson Stadium. Their debut appearance in a National League North encounter in August 2016 was memorable for all of the wrong reasons as Neil Young's Altrincham side went down to a catastrophic 6-0 defeat, the worst home defeat in a competitive game in the club's long & illustrious history.

The Coasters have been managed by former Tranmere Rovers defender, Dave Challinor, who has been in charge since November 2011, having been on the shortlist, 5 months earlier,  to replace Ken Mckenna as Altrincham manager, before the appointment of Lee Sinnott.

Fylde's last 2 competitive games were played at Wembley Stadium, missing out on achieving a place in the EFL(English Football League) in the Vanarama National League Promotion Final as they fell to a 3-0 defeat to Salford City.

The following weekend, Fylde lifted the Buildbase FA Trophy with a single goal victory over National League winners,Leyton Orient.

They are sure to be up amongst the front runners again  this season & have made some very positive summer signings, including Scott Duxbury (Stockport County), Kurt Willoghby (FC United of Manchester), & Jordan Wiliams (Rochdale).

There will be Live Updates on the club website, match updates on twitter & there is Live Commentary of this game on Radio Robins with the broadcast starting at 2.45pm.

Altrincham finished their final home pre-season game with a 3-1 win over last season’s FA Trophy winners AFC Fylde. Nathan Arnold got the first goal, before Sean Williams converted two well-taken free-kicks.

It was the visitors who almost took the lead in the sixth minute, from a cross that found Danny Rowe, who headed narrowly wide from an inviting position.

However, it was Alty who took the lead 21 minutes later through an assured Arnold finish. This came after some lovely play through the middle and down the right from Conor Branson and John Johnston, whose low cross found Arnold.

Only 12 minutes after that, Fylde almost grabbed an equaliser. Rowe’s goalbound header was deflected on to the crossbar by Tom Hannigan, and the follow-up effort was cleared off the line by Connor Hampson.

The Robins doubled their lead in the 40th minute with a low driven free-kick from 20-yards by Williams that comfortably beat the Fylde keeper.

Just before the break, Steven Drench was called into action, as he made two saves in quick succession. The half-time whistle blew with Altrincham having a deserved 2-0 lead.

Both sides remained unchanged for the start of the second-half. Nine minutes into play, Fylde grabbed a goal back through Rowe. Alty headed a corner away but only as far as Rowe who’s volley found the left corner of Drench’s goal.

The Coasters’ converter became a cruncher when his heavy tackle lead to Simon Richman requiring treatment and ultimately being subbed off for Josh Hancock in the 56th minute.

Only a minute after, Fylde almost equalised, but Drench saved admirably whilst on the floor, kicking the ball over his head and clearing off the line.

The Altrincham defence were called into action to prevent Rowe again, Hannigan closing down the away side's striker before sliding in front of him and stopping Fylde from having a clear shot on goal.

The Robins grabbed their third of the afternoon with another low driven free-kick from Williams, this one hitting the inside of the post and finding the net.

With 10 minutes to go, the home side made a double change - Drench and Arnold made way for Tony Thompson and Lewis Walters. Three minutes later, Phil Parkinson made another change to his side, with Shaun Densmore replacing Hampson.

Five minutes before time, Alty made another double substitution, with Jordan Hulme and James Jones leaving the field and Tom Peers and Toby Mullarkey taking their places.

The final whistle blew with Altrincham 3-1 winners. A deserved win for the Robins, who were the better side over both halves. Alty have one more pre-season game on Tuesday evening at Trafford FC - this before their opening league fixture against York City next Saturday at The J.Davidson Stadium.

The full-time whistle blows and it ends Altrincham 3-1 AFC Fylde. Arnold grabbed the first goal of the game, before Williams found the net from a low driven free-kick. Rowe grabbed a goal back for the visitors nine minutes into the second-half, then it was Williams who got Alty's third and his second from another low driven free-kick.
Another double substitution for the home side: Peers on for Hulme and Mullarkey on for Jones (85 minutes).
Altrincham substitute: Hampson off for Densmore (83 minutes).
A great piece of goalkeeping from Thompson prevents the visitors from getting their second.
Altrincham substitutions: Walters on for Arnold and Thompson on for Drench (80 minutes)
Goal! It's a second goal for Williams and Altrincham's third of the afternoon - another brilliant free-kick, driven low and in off the post (3-1, 76 minutes).
Whitmore rises well for Fylde from a corner, his header goes just wide.
Hampson is down after a Fylde corner, it looks as if he has hurt his right ankle or shin.
Hannigan slides in excellently preventing Fylde from getting a clear shot on goal (67 minutes).
A goal saving tackle from Williams prevents Fylde from going level.
Another dangerous chance for Fylde from a corner, it remains Altrincham 2-1 Fylde.
Fylde have one back - Rowe with his effort finding the back of Drench's net (2-1, 54 minutes)
Altrincham substitution: Hancock for Richman (52 minutes)
Richman is back on his feet but limping and looking in some discomfort.
Richman is down, he's holding his right lower leg following a crunching tackle from Danny Rowe.
Both sides remain unchanged from the first-half.
Today's attendance is 352.
Alty get us back underway.
The half-time whistle has gone, it's Altrincham 2-0 AFC Fylde. Goals from Arnold (27 minutes) and Williams (40 minutes).
It was almost 3-0, a Altrincham corner finds Hannigan who's free header goes just wide.
GOAL! It's 2-0 to Alty, Williams with an excellent driven free-kick.
37 minutes gone: Altrincham 1-0 AFC Fylde - Arnold with the goal.
Some excellent defending from the Robins prevents a certain equaliser from a Danny Rowe header and several resulting shots from the Coasters.
GOAL! for the home side, Arnold places home a chance in the bottom left of Fylde's goal - this from some excellent play through the middle and down the right from Branson and Johnston (27 Minutes).
A low driven cross by Richman almost finds Arnold at the far post, but it's a Fylde defender who just beats him to it, preventing the Robins taking the lead.
A scuffle has broken out between both sides - this following a poor challenge from Williams.
Fylde almost take the lead through a Danny Rowe header, it sailed just wide of Drench's goal.
AFC Fylde get us underway.
The Robin's substitutes are as follows: Densmore, Hancock, Chadwick, Mullarkey, Peers, Walters, Thompson.
Altrincham line-up for today's game: (G) Drench, White, Jones, Hannigan, Hampson (C), Branson, Richman, Williams, Johnston, Hulme, Arnold.
