After two good tests against Northern Premier League and National League North opposition, Alty will today travel to the Canalside Sports Complex for a different sort of challenge.
At midday the Robins will get another ninety minutes of football under their belts in a behind-closed-doors game against Huddersfield Town B, a newly formed side created to aid the transition from their Academy to the First Team.
With that in mind we can be sure to expect a lot of quality from the young side. 11 'Young Terriers' gained minutes in the Huddersfield Town First Team last season, with Academy players accounting for 5,710 minutes in league fixtures, cup games and First Team friendlies.
Connor Hampson returns to the Alty squad for today's game, but Josh Hancock joins Andy White and Dan Mooney on the sidelines after picking up a slight knock in the first half at Curzon Ashton. Both him and Whitey are travelling for treatment but will take no part as a precaution.
The hope is that Dan Mooney will be fit for the start of the season, however, he is suspended for the opening game against Weymouth regardless.
Three trailists featured this past Tuesday night and each will get a chance to stake a further claim for a place in Parky's squad: Joel Senior, Ashley Smith-Brown and Will Hall will all feature again today.
"It's a really good one for us. It'll be different to this [Curzon game] as well - you have that different kind of element as well, it'll be a really good test for us because they're professional footballers."
Brian Flynn caught up with Phil Parkinson after Tuesday night's 4-3 defeat at Curzon Ashton. Listen to the full interview below.
