Altrincham FC Ladies v Warrington Wolverines match preview

Altrincham FC Ladies look to bounce back to winning ways when Warrington Wolverines visit Mersey Valley on Sunday for a 2pm kick off, in a match that sees two of the top teams in the North West Regional League Division One South face off.

After winning their first five matches this season, Altrincham FC Ladies lost their last match 3-0 away to Stockport County Blues, but they remain top of the league after six rounds of matches.

The visitors are, however, looking to overtake Altrincham on top of the league with a win on Sunday, after winning four and losing one in the five matches they have played this season. They currently sit third in the league, three points behind Altrincham and behind Curzon Ashton on goal difference. A win on Sunday may see them leapfrog Alty and possibly into top spot in the league.

Last season’s encounters between Warrington Wolverines and Altrincham were two close matches. The match at Mersey Valley ended in a 1-2 win for Warrington, while the match in Warrington ended in a 1-1 draw. In other words, it is always going to be a tight and entertaining match between the two.

“We look forward to hopefully welcome back Laura Dodds and Louise Edleston from injury. We won’t panic (after last Sunday’s loss) and will still play our brand of passing football,” says manager Keith Edleston on how Altrincham will approach this match with Warrington in order to make it six out of seven wins this season.

The match kicks off at 2pm on Sunday at Mersey Valley Sports Club and google map directions can be found here. We look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible to cheer the Ladies on as they attempt to get back to winning ways.
