Conor Branson has signed for Alfreton Town after Altrincham accepted an offer from their Vanarama National League North rivals for the experienced 27-year old.
In what represents a good piece of business for Alty, Alfreton agreed to pay an undisclosed fee for Branson after manager Billy Heath identified the Robins' combative summer capture from Bradford (Park Avenue) as the ideal candidate for strengthening his squad.
The move was completed this afternoon, and Branson is expected to challenge for an immediate debut for his new club against Kettering Town at the Northamptonshire side's Latimer Park ground tomorrow.
Branson, a versatile midfielder who can play the anchor role or operate further forward, made a positive early impact for Alty after joining in the summer, scoring goals and figuring prominently throughout the pre-season programme.
He made five starts and a another three appearances as substitute, once the league campaign got underway, but opportunities have been limited of late, with skipper Jake Moult's welcome return to full fitness further increasing competition for places in central midfield.
As he makes a fresh start at North Street, everyone at Altrincham FC sends their best wishes to Conor, who is pictured above scoring the only goal in the pre-season fixture at Whitchurch Alport.
