Altrincham warmed up nicely for the opening National League match of the 2020/21 season against Weymouth on Saturday in style, beating a Salford Development team 5-1 this evening.
Phil Parkinson’s men played some electrifying football at times and went 3-0 up inside the opening 36 minutes thanks to goals from Tom Peers, Max Clayton and Matty Kosylo. Their lead was reduced just before break as Salford earned a penalty before duly converting it on the stroke of half-time.
That was nothing more than a minor blip however as the Robins continued to dominate in the second half. Matty Kosylo scored his second almost immediately after the resumption and Tom Peers added his second on 55 minutes.
Despite a whole raft of substitutions for both sides, Alty continued to create chances and could easily have added more. However, the final score ended 5-1 and it proved to be an excellent outing for the boys with plenty of positives to take heading into the new campaign.
