Chester v Altrincham match preview

ALTY head to Chester on Saturday afternoon (3pm) as two of the in-form teams in the Vanarama National League North clash at the Deva Stadium.

Phil Parkinson's men are enjoying a four-match unbeaten run in the league after they rescued a point thanks to a late equaliser from Josh Hancock in the 1-1 draw at Hereford last weekend. The players that started against Hereford were held out of the Cheshire Senior Cup match on Tuesday against Congleton but they should all return for this match.

This match however represents a tough encounter against a side that currently occupy one of the play-off places. Chester go into the game in fifth and have only lost twice this season, whilst they are still unbeaten at home this campaign under managerial duo Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley.

Johnson and Morley are renowned for their time at Salford City, where they won two promotions during their time there, and they are looking to take Chester back up to the National League at the first attempt this time around.

Their last result saw them beat Nuneaton Borough 3-2 on Tuesday night, with them racing into a 3-0 lead in the first half through goals from Danny Livesey, Anthony Dudley and Daniel Mooney before Nuneaton fought back late on in the game.

Last time out:

The last meeting between the two sides came in February 2016 when Chester came away from The J.Davidson Stadium with a 3-0 victory thanks to goals from Danny O'Brien, Ryan Astles and Ross Hannah.
