City of Liverpool Ladies v Altrincham Ladies

This Sunday, Altrincham Ladies travel to Merseyside to face off against City of Liverpool in the North West Regional League Division One South.

After last weekend’s loss to Chester, the Lady Robins have lost top spot in the league, dropping down to fourth in what is a tight race at the top. They will therefore be looking to bounce back when they visit tenth-placed City of Liverpool.

City of Liverpool are struggling in the league and are still looking to pick up their first point of the season after losing their opening six games. One of which was against Altrincham, when the Lady Robins beat them 7-0 at Mersey Valley earlier this season.

“They are bottom of the league, but it is still going to be a tough match. At the end of the day it is 11 players against 11, and we need to show up to the game and perform. We are not going to give them their first win of the season,” says manager Keith Edleston ahead of the match.

He also revealed that some players will be missing this Sunday, while some return to the team sheet after missing out in the match against Chester.

“Shannon Billington will be out for the season now because of knee surgery, Bliss Molyneaux and Kye Brown are still out, and Laura Dodds, Jade Hesketh and Laura Kelly are unavailable due to holidays. However we welcome back Jess Hartopp from a groin injury, and Leigh McFadyen will be back in her preferred position up top, after playing on the left last time out.”

The kick-off is at 2pm, and we hope to see as many of you as possible, when Altrincham are looking to bounce back to winning ways this Sunday.
