Bernard Taylor's funeral will be held this Thursday (October 11th), and, as expected, a cordial invitation has been extended to all Alty fans to attend and pay their respects to the hugely-popular former Altrincham manager. Scores of supporters posted heartfelt tributes to Bernard, who had two spells in charge at the end of the 1990s and the start of the millennium, when his death was announced earlier this week.
Supporters travel coordinator Mark Eckersall was one of them, and he provided details of the funeral arrangements by saying: 'Bernard's family have asked that the following be published, please, in the hope as many Alty supporters as possible can come along to say farewell to someone everyone loved and respected so much.
'The funeral service will be at St Vincent's Church, Altrincham, WA14 2BP, at the top of Regent Road, at 1.45pm, followed by a ceremony at Altrincham Crematorium at 3pm and then on to the Masonic Hall, Clay Lane, Timperley WA15 7AB.
'Bernard's wife Sheila invites everyone to attend any part of the afternoon they wish to. In fact, she wants as many as possible to be there for him and would love to see Alty supporters turning up and sharing stories about him. Her message was, if you are able to be with us at all three venues, you are more than welcome.'
The funeral procession will be passing past the ground at 13:30 and will pause for a minute on the way to the church.
