Match Preview: Spennymoor Town (A)

Spennymoor Town 8th vs Altrincham 7th
Vanarama National League North
11th February 2020

You will remember that the fixture on 14th January was postponed by the match referee shortly before 19:00pm leaving both clubs, and the travelling Altrincham fans, a little bemused at the decision.

Anyway, here we are, with Alty set to return for another crack at it this evening. Ironically I can start today's match preview in a very similar manner to the last one, as "the first in a duo of back-to-back trips up to the north east takes place this evening as Altrincham travel to Spennymoor Town" - we're heading straight back up when we travel to Blyth Spartans on Saturday. Does it feel like we play away every week this season, or is that just me?

In fact there's quite a bit that can be cherry picked from the previous match preview. "That brings us onto tonight, and the importance of this fixture at Spennymoor Town, who sit just one space below us." Between then and now we've extended the gap between us to three points, we were previously ahead of tonight's hosts goal difference.

The distance of three points suggests that both sides have been keeping up a good pace. Town are unbeaten in four now and picked up a big point against Brackley at the weekend - Alty, meanwhile, are unbeaten in five so this really does have all the makings of a fascinating potential playoff pre-show.
