Altrincham move up to sixth in the table following a 2-0 away to Kettering Town. Josh Hancock opened the scoring for Alty in the 33rd minute – his left-footed curling effort gave Paul White no chance.

The Robins doubled their lead a minute before the break thanks to Jordan Hulme. Craig Mahon’s corner was whipped in, it missed the head of James Jones and was flicked on by Tom Hannigan towards goal – Jordan Hulme pinched it on the line to give Altrincham a good lead.

The first half was not all Alty though, Kettering had a fair few chances, most notably through Lindon Meikle in the 32nd minute – his effort went just wide of Tony Thompson’s goal.

The second half saw an excellent defensive performance from the Robins, several long-balls were lumped into the area – but the back five were resilient and prevented the Poppies from scoring.

The win means Altrincham move up two places in the league from eighth to sixth, and gives the team yet more momentum going into Saturday’s game against AFC Telford United.
