Pop in for a cuppa and cake and boost Alty's Macmillan fund-raiser!

There are few better ways of unwinding than a cuppa with a slice of cake and a chat with a friendly face, and all three will be on offer in the Community Sports Hall at The J.Davidson Stadium on Thursday in an effort to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Every year, one of Britain's biggest charities, founded 110 years ago to provide specialist care, information and support for anyone affected by cancer, launches an appeal for people across the country to either attend or host a coffee morning to provide its finances with a much-needed boost.

Friday, September 24th has been chosen for the 2021 annual Macmillan Coffee Morning, though Alty's community team have taken advantage of flexibility over the date by selecting Thursday the 23rd from 11am to 12.30pm as the optimum time for their fund-raiser.

'Friday is the official Macmillan day, but we have gone for Thursday at 11 o'clock because that is straight after our senior exercise class,' explained Altrincham In The Community's Kate Dunn. 'A lot of people from the class like to attend the coffee morning, so it made sense to hold it then.

'But it is open to all ages, and everyone can be sure of a warm welcome and, of course, a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of cake. If you want to bring a cake along to donate, then lovely, but we will be providing a range of cakes as well to make sure there is plenty available.

'So, please call in to see us, if you can. Even if you're just passing, pop in for a few minutes. Entry is free, you will enjoy what's on offer and you can be sure there will be someone to chat to.

'And, of course, it's for such a good cause. Every penny from tea, coffee and cake sales will be going to Macmillan, and it would be great to raise as much as we possibly can.'
