It has been another richly entertaining and thoroughly enthralling campaign for Altrincham followers, and there is still so much to play for, as we head down the home straight.
The finishing line is in sight, and Phil Parkinson's players are determined to cross it with a play-off place in the bag after redoubling their efforts in recent weeks with a four-match unbeaten run that has yielded 10 points and put them in prime position for a top-seven finish.
Though their focus is on nothing other than the remaining eight games, the club have to draw up plans for celebrating the season in the usual style and can now announce a gala awards evening will be held in the Community Sports Hall at the end of next month.
It will take place after the final game on the Vanarama National League North fixture list, at nearby Ashton United on Saturday, April 27th, and it is hoped the hall will be packed for a night of reflection on another exciting, eventful season and recognition for those who made it happen.
The bar will be open throughout, and, as a gesture of appreciation for the sterling support that has so often been remarked on by Alty boss Parkinson and skipper Jake Moult, the club are laying on free food. There will be a hot buffet for supporters, and it is being provided with the compliments of the board.
A precise timetable has yet to be formulated, but it is expected the players will be back at the CSH by around 6pm and that the following hour or so will be set aside for club caterer Richie Bentley's buffet spread, to a background of live music.
The presentation ceremony will get underway at about 7pm, but who will carry off this season's prestigious individual awards? The Players' Player of the Year and Club Man/Woman of the Year will be voted for internally, but it is your say that will determine the outcome of Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Goal of the Season.
Voting papers will be made available in the CSH, and it is hoped a compilation from Alty TV's Mark Bennett will help refresh your memory for selecting the best of the many outstanding goals scored during the course of the season.
Exact details for the voting procedure will follow as soon as we have them, but the club wanted to give prior notice of an event that is always eagerly anticipated and that will be attended by the players and management. So make a note in your diary for Saturday, April 27th, and let's hope the topics for discussion include prospects for the play-offs as well as a look back at the preceding nine months.
