STATEMENT FROM THE BOARD
Altrincham FC are delighted to announce the appointment of Cathal Morrison to the board of directors and would like to welcome him warmly to the club.
Born in Cork and raised in Derry, Essex-based engineering expert Cathal will bring a wealth of football and business experience to the board after investing in the club by purchasing shares.
A bustling centre-forward at local football level in his playing days, the 40-year old holds FA coaching badges and has a broad knowledge of the non-League scene after filling the role of regional scout for AFC Fylde.
In addition, his background in engineering will be fully utilised to help facilitate ground improvements and developments, and, as he reflected on his appointment as a director at last Thursday's board meeting, he said:
'It's great to be joining the board of a club with such a sense of ambition, direction and purpose as Altrincham. Those qualities were abundantly clear from my earliest dealings with the club, and I'm relishing the chance to play a part in what has been a fantastic success story in recent seasons.
'It is a club where each director can make a definite contribution to ensuring our fortunes keep moving in the right direction, and I am looking forward to helping with that and getting to know the fans.'
Hailing the latest boardroom addition as further evidence of Alty's ambition to continue strengthening on and off the pitch, co-chairman Lawrence Looney said: 'With promotion back to the National League, the club is at an important stage in our development.
'We face many challenges and are determined to grasp as many opportunities as possible. Cathal recognises the potential that the club has and we welcome him on to the board.'
Co-chairman Bill Waterson added: 'We have been looking to strengthen the board, to invite Investment and to increase our Bandwidth and Capability - enabling us to do more and add new skills to the team.
'Cathal brings all three, coupled with a strong, pragmatic attitude, and he will be an important component of our continued success.'
*Watch out for a full interview with Cathal on the official club website tomorrow.
